Junior Language Trips — safe, exciting and open-minded

For the children of travel professionals who already know the world — and now want to really learn a language.

Children of airliners and travel professionals grow up differently. Airports feel familiar, wanderlust is normal, and they understand early on that languages open doors. A junior language trip is the logical next step — for younger kids from age 8 still together with parents, from age 12 also alone with peers from around the world. In both cases: a safe environment, professional supervision, and a programme that actually makes a difference.

LanguagePeps places junior language trips exclusively with hand-picked partner schools. That means professional supervision, age-appropriate programmes and proven experience with international junior groups. And of course at PEP rates — for all children of eligible industry professionals.

What a junior language trip really achieves

Learning a language where it is spoken every day is something quite different from classroom lessons. Faster, more lasting, and honestly more motivating too. On top of that come effects no classroom can replace.

Independence grows when you manage on your own without parents for the first time. Self-confidence emerges when you realise: I can cope, even in English, even in a foreign country. Friendships form with peers from Spain, Japan, Brazil — and sometimes last a lifetime. And cultural openness is no buzzword but something that simply happens when you are in the middle of it all.

The programme is not classic school teaching. Lessons in the morning, excursions in the afternoon, activities in the evening — and English, Spanish, French or Italian everywhere, simply because it is needed. Most families book during the Easter, summer or autumn holidays — two to four weeks that have a longer impact than any school year.

Popular destinations for junior language trips

Malta is the classic starter destination: English, sunshine, a manageable island size, short flights. Ideal for first-time travellers from age 8 — together with parents — or for first solo travellers from age 12.

Dublin stands for lively youth programmes, laid-back Irish hosts and English as it is actually spoken in daily life — not just in textbooks.

Brighton, Bournemouth and London offer British English at its purest, plus a cultural programme and city life that genuinely interests teenagers.

Biarritz — learn French right on the Atlantic coast, with a surf-camp option. A combination hardly anyone forgets.

French in Switzerland — a language course in a safe, well-organised setting, ideal for younger teenagers and first-time travellers focusing on French.

Valencia and Málaga — learn Spanish where it lives: sun, sea, real Spanish in everyday life. Both cities offer excellent junior programmes.

Lignano — learn Italian on the Northern Adriatic coast, relaxed atmosphere, family-friendly and particularly popular with German-speaking families.

For Spanish, French and Italian courses we recommend selected schools depending on age, level and destination — we are happy to advise.

Sports camps with language course — for teenagers who want more than lessons

Football training in England, tennis in the sun, surfing on the Atlantic coast, skiing in the Alps, dancing, rugby — or a multisport camp with a different activity every day. Sports camps combine intensive language training with what many teenagers love to do anyway.

The principle is simple: English, Spanish, French or Italian lessons in the morning, training, water or snow in the afternoon. The result: more motivation, more progress, and a trip teenagers actually want to talk about.

  • Football + English — professional training camp in England, for real fans and anyone who wants to become one.
  • Tennis + Language — focused racket training combined with a language course.
  • Surf camp + French — wave riding and learning French in Biarritz, directly on the Atlantic.
  • Ski camp — language course in the Alps, slopes in the afternoon, Switzerland or Austria.
  • Dance + Language — movement, rhythm and a new language all in one.
  • Rugby + English — for teenagers who take sport seriously and learn English on the side.
  • Multisport camp — for sporty all-rounders: football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, badminton and more on daily rotation.

All programmes at hand-picked partner schools with qualified trainers, age-appropriate groups and professional supervision — at PEP rates.

School classes and groups — language trips abroad

LanguagePeps plans language trips not only for individual travellers and families but also for school classes and youth groups. Whether it is a class trip with a language focus, a club group or an organised travel group — we coordinate programme, accommodation and supervision at our partner schools and make sure the group travels as a unit while still being integrated into the international course routine.

Group trips on request — we put together an individual offer depending on target group, destination and dates.

High school programmes — when more than a short stay is needed

Three weeks of language course are a good start. But some teenagers are ready for more: half a year or a full school year abroad, embedded in the real school life of another country, with a host family, new friends and a language that really sticks by the end.

LanguagePeps places high school programmes in Canada, the USA, Ireland and Switzerland — countries known for their hospitality towards international students and for well-organised programmes with experienced support structures.

A high school year is a decision that needs to be well prepared — for parents and teenagers alike. We advise individually on which country and which programme suits the family, the age and the academic background.

Safety: what our partner schools must bring to the table

Junior programmes are no accident. All partner schools we recommend for junior language trips meet clear criteria: trained group leaders, fixed evening and curfew rules, safe accommodation in host families or school residences and a 24/7 emergency contact. Before departure, parents receive a full information pack — so both sides can start relaxed.

Tip: combine a junior language trip with a family language trip

Many industry professionals use the option to combine both: one parent takes a recognised educational-leave language course while the child joins the junior programme — at the same location, in the same week. Practical, cost-saving and a real experience for both sides. Learn more under Family Language Trips →

What parents from the industry say

“My daughter was 14 when she flew to Malta on her own for the first time. A little nervous — after two days she wanted to stay longer. The school was great, the supervision professional, the group fantastic.”

Frequently asked questions about junior language trips

Which age group are junior language trips suitable for?

Junior language trips are possible from age 8 — younger children travel together with their parents. From age 12 many teenagers already travel alone with a group of peers. There is no hard upper limit; most junior programmes are designed for ages up to 17.

Are the children supervised around the clock?

Yes. All junior programmes at our partner schools include professional supervision, clear evening rules and an emergency contact who is always reachable.

How does my child get to the junior language trip?

Travel to the destination is usually individual — parents book the flight or train themselves. The partner school organises transfer from the airport to the accommodation. You receive detailed travel information and pickup times in the information pack beforehand.

Can my child fly as an Unaccompanied Minor?

Yes, bookable with most airlines up to age 14 or 15. As an industry professional you know the UM service — we make sure the school is informed about arrival time and flight details and coordinates the pickup.

Host family or school residence — which is better?

It depends on your child. Host families offer more daily language practice and a family setting. Residences give more independence and closer contact with other course participants. We are happy to advise.

How are host families selected?

All host families are regularly checked and visited by the partner school. Standards for room, meals and safety are contractually fixed.

Which sports are available in the sports camps?

Football in England, tennis, surfing, skiing, dancing, rugby — or a multisport camp with daily rotating activities such as football, volleyball, basketball, swimming and badminton. We help you find the right programme for sport, level and age of your child.

Do you also organise trips for school classes or groups?

Yes. We organise language trips abroad for school classes, clubs and youth groups — planned individually, with programme, accommodation and supervision at our partner schools. A request is all it takes.

From what age is a high school programme possible?

Usually from age 14 or 15, for a full school year mostly from age 15. Prerequisites are solid language skills and the readiness to really engage — we discuss this in advance.

Do PEP rates also apply to junior language trips?

Yes — with one important difference: junior language trips are package prices bundling course, accommodation, meals, supervision and leisure programme. The 10% PEP discount does not apply to the total price because no discount is granted on accommodation, meals and supervision. Only the course portion can be offered at a reduced rate. We list each discount transparently in the booking summary.

Can friends of my child join the same junior language trip?

Yes — anyone who wants to can simply bring their best friends along. Children of eligible industry professionals may bring their buddies even if their parents are not in the industry. They all travel at the same price. Just indicate it when booking — we coordinate the rest.

When should I book?

For Easter trips we recommend booking by January/February at the latest, for summer trips by March/April — popular schools and dates sell out early.

What is included in the PEP price?

Course fees, accommodation with full board or half board, activity programme and supervision. Flight and insurance are booked separately.

What happens if my child gets ill?

The school always has a contact person on site; in more serious cases a doctor is called. Parents are informed immediately.

Which insurance is required?

International health insurance and travel cancellation insurance are mandatory. As an industry professional you often already have access to good conditions — we point this out in the booking documents.

How long does a junior language trip last?

Usually one to four weeks during the Easter, summer or autumn holidays. High school programmes run for half or a full school year.
